Title: RIZAL IN OUR TIME
The commentaries in this book seek to reassess the works of Rizal and provoke a re-thinking of what it means to be a Filipino in a Philippines that seems to be in perpetual crises, or as part of the more than 10 million overseas Filipinos. Rizal as an exile within his own country and as scholar/traveler in the U.S. and Europe, may provide lessons for us and yield clues useful for rediscovering our historical tradition of resistance against colonial domination. it may also help us seek resources within ourselves for renewing the revolutionary legacy and internationalist solidarity that Rizal embodied in his life and works.

Title: ERRANTE GOLONDRINA: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JOSEPHINE BRACKEN
This book is about Josephine Bracken’s legitimate origin and her marriage to Jose Rizal. Authored by her great-grandson, it is the first biography to come to her defense amidst allegations by historians that she was illegitimate and not lawfully wedded to the national hero. It presents Josephine Bracken’s life before, during and after her brief but intense romance with Rizal, who called her a wandering swallow (errante golondrina). How she evolves into one of our history’s unsung heroines is the fascinating plot of this narrative.

Title: HEROES IN LOVE
This volume features two plays that may be of interest to Rizal scholars. The first one—“The Many Loves of Pepe Rizal”—attempts to celebrate, not only his genius, but his humanity by describing via dramatic scenes his relationships with his “loves” that includes his mother, Teodora Alonzo, as well as young ladies he courted: Segunda Katigbak, Leonore Valenzuela, Leonore Rivera, Consuelo Ortiga y Perez, O-Sei-San, Gertrude Beckett, Suzanne Jacoby, Nellie Bousted and Josephine Bracken. The second play is scripted from Noli Me Tangere entitled “ Damaso Contra Ibarra”. Both plays would be good vehicles to increase the young people’s awareness of Jose Rizal.
“The two volumes contain a comprehensive survey of people, places, things and events that make the Filipino unique. All Filipinos–or those seeking to rediscover their heritage–will relate to these historical and cultural icons. The 101 icons in each volume represent the Filipino persona, a part of Filipino history, or an aspect of Filipino culture that would make every Filipino proud. Each of the icons are arranged historically, according to the time in history where they emerged as part of the Filipino’s consciousness.
The icons are described mostly in English but some are in Tagalog/Filipino. In some pages, there are suggestions for teachers or parents on how they can carry out discussions or activities that may resonate with the youth.
Since the first volume could not cover all, a second one was prepared, with the sequel following the format established in the first volume.
Both volumes are 9 by 12 inches, fully illustrated with photographs and appropriate graphics. It is a good keepsake for families that want to perpetuate the Filipino culture: the icons in the book can serve as a tool to generate discussion, serve as a reference source or a device to trigger memories.”
